Project Type - Renovation & Addition

The owners of Dunstan House approached Draftup with a problem. They loved the location and style of their existing home, but they were quickly running out of space for their growing family. Draftup took the clients' ideas and requirements and transformed the existing three-bedroom, single-living-space weatherboard home by designing an addition consisting of two separate wings.

Wing One: features a secondary living space or parents' retreat, a connected office nook, and a large master bedroom with a walk-in robe and ensuite. It is designed with a skillion roof and raked ceiling, allowing highlight windows to bring the morning sun into both the living room and master bedroom.

Wing Two: is a smaller addition to the existing kitchen and dining room. This addition creates space for a large dining table and offers more room around the existing kitchen. An existing external laundry was removed to make room for the second wing, and a new laundry was incorporated into an existing office space, allowing the clients to use the laundry year-round without battling the Canberra elements.

Overview

As you can see in the project photos, Wing One and Wing Two are situated parallel to one another with a large alfresco deck area between them, allowing easy access to both spaces while entertaining.
